Private child ADHD assessment in the UK
Assessing a child means looking well beyond a single appointment. DSM-5 requires evidence that symptoms appear in more than one setting, so we gather information from you as a parent or carer, from school where possible, and from your child directly.
Assessments are led by a specialist ADHD prescriber and held online, which keeps the process calm and familiar for children who find clinic environments difficult.

How a child assessment works

Parent and child questionnaires
Standardised rating scales are completed by you and, where possible, your child, exploring symptoms and their impact at home.

School information
Teacher observations or recent school reports help show how your child manages attention, activity and impulses in the classroom.

Clinical interview
A video appointment with your child and you together, covering developmental history, behaviour, learning and social relationships.

Optional QbCheck testing
Objective computerised measurement of attention, impulsivity and activity can be added where it would add clinical value (additional fee applies).

Outcome, report and plan
The outcome is shared at the end of the appointment, with a full written report within 21 days and a copy to your GP.
Support after a diagnosis
Where ADHD is diagnosed, support usually starts with behavioural strategies, routines and school adjustments, described in more detail on our ADHD support and management page. Where clinical treatment is appropriate, we manage titration with regular reviews and can later request shared care with your GP, which is always at the practice's discretion.
